Andrew Pederson, Brandon Roiko and Andrew Skoog combined to give up 16 hits, but helped spark a nine-run third inning that led the Menahga baseball team to a 14-9 win over Perham in the season opener Friday afternoon.
Menahga claimed a 2-0 lead in the first when Roiko walked, Skoog put down a sacrifice bunt, Kyle Dormanen lined an RBI double and Alex Pederson followed with an RBI double.
The Braves trailed 3-2 entering the bottom of the third inning before sending 13 batters to the plate. Roiko led off with a single, Skoog doubled and Dormanen walked to load the bases. Andrew Pederson's two-run double gave Menahga the lead for good. Alex Pederson followed with an RBI single, Tyler Horton had an RBI single, Jake Sumner singled, Adam Meech singled, Roiko singled, Skoog had a run-scoring grounder and Dormanen lined a two-run single. Three Perham errors also aided that nine-run inning.
Perham scored three times in the fifth to make it 11-6 before Horton doubled and scored on two wild pitches in the bottom of that inning.
Another three-run inning pulled Perham to within 12-9 in the sixth before the Braves sealed the win by scoring twice in the bottom of the inning. Roiko singled and stole second. Skoog walked, but was forced out on a grounder by Dormanen. After Roiko scored on a wild pitch, Dormanen scored the final run on an error.

Roiko picked up the win in relief, allowing three runs on six hits and one walk. Roiko struck out one in 2 1/3 innings of work. Andrew Pederson started and gave up three runs on six hits with three strikeouts in 2 1/3 innings. Skoog pitched the final 2 1/3 innings, allowing three runs on four hits and two walks with three strikeouts.
Menahga finished with 13 hits and two errors while Perham committed five errors in the loss.
