A Bemidji man remains in custody facing felony murder charges after he allegedly stabbed a woman to death Friday. Brian Keith Jourdain, 25, made his first appearance in Beltrami County District Court on Tuesday. Jourdain is accused of stabbing Krista Marie Fisherman, 35, of Redby, several times Friday near a mall in Bemidji. Jourdain was identified with Fisherman on video surveillance from a store in the mall before the stabbing, according to court documents. Fisherman was found lying in the street a short time later. Bemidji Police officers responded to a report of a stabbing in the vicinity of the 2800 block of Ridgeway Avenue Northwest at approximately 7:15 p.m., according to a statement of probable cause from the court. Responding officers noted there was a large pool of blood under the victim and a stab wound was found on her right leg, court documents said. Fisherman was transported to Sanford Bemidji Medical Center at 7:45 p.m. where she was pronounced dead. Fisherman was stabbed at least four times, with one wound proving fatal, according to court documents. Jourdain made numerous phone calls and sent text messages in an attempt to find a ride to Red Lake after the stabbing, court documents said. A text message sent at 7:33 p.m. said Jourdain said he stabbed Fisherman and needed a ride. A recipient of Jourdain's phone calls called Jourdain back on speakerphone with law enforcement present and asked why he stabbed the victim. Jourdain replied, "she pissed me off," according to court documents. While on speakerphone, Jourdain asked for a ride to Red Lake. Law enforcement officers located Jourdain at a Bemidji restaurant, where he was arrested. Jourdain is charged with two counts of second-degree murder, one with and one without intent. Each charge carries a maximum penalty of 40 years in prison. Jourdain is being held in the Beltrami County Jail on $1 million conditional bail. His next court appearance is scheduled for Monday. The Ramsey County Medical Examiner's office ruled Fisherman's death as a homicide caused by exsanguination, or the loss of blood, as a result of a stab wound to the leg, according to court documents.
