BEMIDJI -- The Bemidji Fire Department responded to a house fire on Saturday morning in Northern Township.

The fire, which was reported at 11:09 a.m. by a passing motorist, was located in the 4500 block of Larch St NE. Bemidji .

Firefighters arrived on scene to find a large portion of the home engulfed in flames. Firefighters were able to quickly contain and extinguish the fire. Seventeen firefighters used two fire engines and three tankers on the scene.

No injuries were reported and the fire department was on scene approximately five hours.

The fire caused an estimated $175,000 in damage to the structure and contents.

The cause of the fire is under investigation; however appears to be accidental in nature. The fire department was assisted at the scene by the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office, Minnesota DNR Firefighters, Bemidji Ambulance Service, Minnesota State Fire Marshal's Office and Beltrami Electric Cooperative.
