Bail set at $50,000 for Ponsford man accused in girlfriend's assault

Bail has been set at $50,000 for a Ponsford man accused of assaulting his girlfriend and preventing her from leaving the house over a period of several days.

Bail has been set at $50,000 for a Ponsford man accused of assaulting his girlfriend and preventing her from leaving the house over a period of several days.

Travis Jerome Norcross, 26, of 2308 County Road 129, Ponsford has been charged in Becker County District court with felony harassment -- subsequent violation, felony domestic assault, and felony fifth-degree assault.

According to court records:

On Sept. 9 police were called to investigate a reported assault involving Norcross and his girlfriend, with whom he has two children.

He allegedly begin assaulting her Sept. 5 when he woke her up by kicking the mattress she was sleeping on. He allegedly threatened that every time she flinched, he would hit her and began hitting her on the side of the body.

He allegedly threw a number of toys at her and only stopped when their young son begin to wake up because of the noise

Norcross allegedly threatened to kill her if she called for help. He allegedly watched her for days, not allowing her to leave the residence. On Sept. 9 he left with their son and she fled to her mother's residence. Law enforcement officers found significant bruising on her face, both sides of her body and other areas.

Norcross appeared Friday before District Judge Joe Evans, who set bail or bond at $50,000 and set his next court appearance for Sept. 28.
