An autopsy will be performed on a 3-year-old girl found dead Sunday at a rural Barnesville, Minn., home.

Kylie Martinez-Braton lived in the home with her mother, Mici Braton, and grandparents Randy and Trinda Braton.

Wilkin County Sheriff Tom Matejka said one of the grandparents called authorities at 7:35 a.m. Sunday.

A deputy and Barnesville ambulance crew arrived to find the girl lying in bed unresponsive and cold to the touch.

"There was, I guess, some bruising around the lips that we were questioning," Matejka said, adding it could have been caused by a medical condition.

The autopsy is scheduled today at the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's office in St. Paul, Matejka said. It's routine to order an autopsy in an unattended death, he said.

A Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension agent assisted the sheriff's office with the death investigation Monday, Matejka said, describing it as "kind of an exploratory-type investigation right now."

The girl's mother was not home when the grandparent called authorities, he said.

The girl's father, Bemo Pechtel-Martinez, died in June 2007 at age 19.
