Ontario authorities have recovered the bodies of a Warroad, Minn., man and his teen-aged son who went through the ice Saturday afternoon on Lake of the Woods near Cyclone Island.
According to Ontario Provincial Police, divers recovered the bodies of Wayne Windahl, 47, and his son, Jeremy Windahl, 16, late Monday afternoon.
Cyclone Island is located in Ontario waters just across the border from Minnesota's Northwest Angle.
The Windahls were on a snowmobile that broke through bad ice Saturday afternoon. A third man on a second snowmobile was able to cross the weak ice, according to a news release from OPP.
Assisting in the operation were the OPP Underwater Search and Rescue Unit and Lake of the Woods Search and Rescue.
