ATV accidents near Akeley injure three last weekend

A 15-year-old from Akeley remains in intensive care at North Memorial Hospital in Robinsdale following an ATV crash Friday.

Dylan Tesch is one of three individuals injured in two ATV accidents in the Akeley area last weekend.

According to the Hubbard County Sheriff's Office, the first ATV crash was reported at 7:23 p.m. Friday on Great Road, approximately 1 mile east of Akeley.

The report states Tesch was traveling eastbound on a three-wheeler and was in the process of looking back to locate a second ATV behind him when his ATV exited the roadway. As the ATV left the roadway, Tesch lost control, striking some trees.

The sheriff's office reports Tesch suffered possible fractured bones and internal injures and was airlifted from the scene to North Memorial where he remains in intensive care.

The accident remains under investigation.

The second accident was reported at 8:49 p.m. Saturday at state Highway 34 on the Hubbard-Cass county line.

According to the state patrol, driver David Riegert, 31, of Glyndon was traveling in the eastbound ditch of Highway 34, lost control of his 2006 Arctic Cat ATV and rolled.

Riegert and passenger, Nicole J. Kent, 29, of Waubun sustained injuries.

Neither was wearing a helmet.
