Arlene Joyce Solinger, 77, of Park Rapids died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2008 at Heritage Living Center in Park Rapids.

She was born to Pete and Bessie (Long) Solinger Aug. 20, 1930 in Clover Township, north of Park Rapids. She attended Pine View Dist. 89 country school near her home. She worked at Wone-wok on Big Mantrap Lake and for many years was the camp cook at Island Lake Girls Camp. Later, she drove a car "school bus" for the Park Rapids School District and also worked at Merrites Café across from the Park Rapids School. She also worked as a housekeeper and cook for several Park Rapids residents. In the fall of 1980, she moved into Park Rapids and in June 2006 she became a resident at Heri-tage Living Center.

She is survived by six nieces, Joyce (Dean) Walsh, Eleanor (Howard) Warm-bold and Karen (Charles) Manners, all of Park Rapids, Shirley (Gerald) Green of Edwardsville, IL, Verna (Ronald) Slover of Elko, NV and Jeanette Solinger of Oregon; two nephews, Clyde (Karen) Koch and Howard Koch, all of Park Rapids; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Jack; three sisters, Vera Koch, Blanche Walsh and Freda Pritchett; and one nephew, Calvin Solinger.

Funeral: Wednesday, Jan. 16 at Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids with Rev. Bob Light officiating.

Casket bearers: her great-nephews, Norman and Raymond Koch, Robert Walsh, Ross Manners, Gary Warmbold and Fred VanDe-Venter.

Interment: in the Solinger family plot at the Arago-Clover-Evergreen Cemetery.
