Alvina E. Kallestad
Alvina E. Kallestad, 96, of Park Rapids died Thursday, July 13, 2006 at Heritage Living Center.
She was born Feb. 19, 1910 to Carl and Kathryn (Halligan) Cherland in Corwith, IA. She was raised in Blue Earth and lived in Mankato, Jamestown, Graceville and Miller, SD, where she owned and operated a large tax accounting business for 25 years. She moved to Park Rapids in 1979. She continued to do taxes as a volunteer for a few years. She and her husband owned a home on Lake Emma from 1973 to 1991. She moved to Heritage Living Center in 1998.
She is survived by two sons, Brent of Tallahassee, FL and Bard (Linda) of Cedar; brother, Dick Cherland of Banning, CA; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Leonard, in 1994; three sisters and six brothers.

Casketbearers: Sons, Brent and Bard, grandsons, Shawn and Corey Loger and Grant Kallestad and nephew, Larry Swenson of Park Rapids.
Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church.
Funeral: 1 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Calvary Lu-theran Church in Park Rapids with Pastor Ann Jacobson officiating. Eulogists will be Brent Kallestad and Diane Sohn Hoffstedt. Special music will be provided by granddaughter Nalani. Roz Pederson will be the organist.
Interment: Lake Emma Cemetery, near Park Rapids.
Memorials preferred to Calvary Lutheran Church or Heritage Living Center.
