The Minnesota State Patrol (MSP) has investigated at least four accidents with injuries during the past two weeks in Hubbard County.
Clover Twp. crash
Three people were injured in a two-vehicle crash Thursday, Feb. 11 in Clover Township.
According to Hubbard County dispatch, a head-on collision was reported at 6:46 a.m. at U.S. Hwy. 71 and Jade Rose Drive.
The MSP incident report states that the call was assigned at 6:51 a.m. after a 2015 Dodge Dart, driven by Branson William Heck, 20, of Kelliher, Minn., was traveling north on Hwy. 71 when it drifted into oncoming traffic and was struck by a southbound, 2016 Dodge Ram, driven by Joseph Michael Stump, 26, of Graham, N.C.
Both drivers and a passenger in the Ram, Gary Conrad Saunders, 31, of Burlington, Wash., were transported to CHI St. Joseph’s Health with minor injuries.
The report states that road conditions were dry; no alcohol was involved; and all three occupants were wearing seat belts during the crash.
Hubbard County Sheriff’s deputies assisted at the scene.
Straight River Twp. crash
The driver was hurt when a semi turned on its side Monday, Feb. 15 in Straight River Township.
According to the MSP incident report, a 2001 Peterbilt 379, driven by Timothy Andrew Usher, 40, of Menahga, was headed south on U.S. Hwy. 71 at about 8:15 p.m. when it swerved to the right to avoid another semi and its trailer pulled into the ditch, ending on its side.
Usher was transported to CHI St. Joseph’s Health with non-life threatening injuries. The report states that he was wearing a seat belt during the accident; road conditions were dry; and no alcohol was involved.
The Hubbard County Sheriff’s Office and North Memorial Health Ambulance assisted at the scene.
Lakeport Twp. crash
A young woman was injured when her vehicle overturned Tuesday, Feb. 16 in Lakeport Township.
The MSP report states that around 10:57 p.m., a 2003 Toyota Camry, driven by Faith Olivia Carpenter, 16, of Laporte, was traveling east on State Hwy. 200 near County Road 30. At milepost 114, it struck a deer, then went off the road, rolled over and came to rest on its wheels.
Carpenter was transported to Essentia Health in Walker with non-life threatening injuries. According to the report, she was wearing a seat belt during the crash; road conditions were dry; and no alcohol was involved.
The Hubbard County Sheriff’s Office and the Laporte Volunteer Fire and Rescue assisted at the scene.
Nevis Twp. crash
Two people were injured in a two-vehicle collision Thursday, Feb. 18 in Nevis Township.
According to the MSP report, the accident occurred around 3:42 p.m. on State Hwy. 34 near Echo Ridge Drive. A 2020 Kia Telluride, driven by Christina Lorraine Mountjoy, 36, of Park Rapids, was traveling west when an eastbound 2005 GMC Sierra, driven by Tyler Jordan Kamrath, 22, of Nevis, crossed the centerline and struck the Kia.
Both drivers sustained non-life threatening injuries. Mountjoy was transported to CHI St. Joseph’s Health in Park Rapids, and Kamrath was sent to Essentia Health in Fargo.
The report states that air bags deployed in both vehicles; both drivers were wearing seat belts; road conditions were wet; and it is unknown whether alcohol was involved.
Assisting at the scene were the Hubbard County Sheriff’s Office, Nevis Fire and Rescue, North Memorial Health Ambulance and Nevis First Responders.
