Vehicle hits school bus
A private motor vehicle hit a school bus Monday morning in Park Rapids.
According to a Park Rapids Police Department incident report, police personnel responded to a report at 8:07 a.m. about an accident involving a school bus and a passenger vehicle at the corner of Helten Avenue and State Hwy. 34.
Responding officers found a school bus, driven by Kevin Joseph Tupy of Menahga, parked facing south on Fair Avenue with its hazard lights on and a 2011 Ford Expedition, driven by Rosalyn Jean Bradow of Park Rapids, parked facing west on the shoulder of Hwy. 34 just west of Helten Ave.
There was a large amount of debris in the intersection and extensive damage to the front end of the Expedition, but both vehicles were parked out of the way of traffic. There were no children on the bus.
Investigation showed that Bradow was traveling west on Hwy. 34 at about 30 mph when the bus, facing south on Helten Ave., pulled out in front of her.
Bradow said she and the child who was in the Expedition with her did not need medical assistance. Tupy also reported he was uninjured. The Expedition was removed from the scene by Farrington Towing.
