Three separate vehicle accidents Nov. 13 in Hubbard County resulted in at least one hospitalization and a traffic citation.

Treated for injuries

Hubbard County dispatch received a report at 3:23 p.m. of a one-vehicle accident in Lakeport Township, possibly involving a medical issue.

According to the Hubbard County Sheriff’s Office, responding deputies’ investigation showed that Clifford Mann, 83, of Laporte was driving a 2017 Jeep Cherokee on State Hwy. 200 when he veered off the road and into the trees.

Mann was transported by ambulance to Sanford Bemidji Medical Center, where he was treated for injuries sustained in the crash.

Cited for illegal pass

Dispatch received a report at 3:31 p.m. of a two-vehicle crash in Henrietta Township.

According to the Hubbard County Sheriff’s Office, responding deputies found that Ronald Pettersen, 69, of Park Rapids was northbound on County 4 in a 2006 Chevrolet Avalanche and had stopped for a left turn onto 204th Street when he saw a vehicle approaching him from behind at high speed. Pettersen turned right in an attempt to get out of the path of the approaching vehicle, but was unable to avoid the collision.

Driving the 2012 Subaru Outback was Sally Wagner, 60, of Pelican Rapids. Wagner said she was northbound on County 4 when she decided to pass the Avalanche on the right, as it was stopped and waiting to turn. The Avalanche instead turned right and she collided with it.

Neither party was injured in the crash. Wagner was cited for making an illegal pass on the right.

‘Very large debris field’

A third crash that day, reported to county dispatch at 5:39 p.m., was described as a two-car accident with no known injuries and a very large debris field.

At press time, the Enterprise was awaiting details about this crash from the Minnesota State Patrol.
