1 dead after crash in rural Cass County

AMENIA, N.D. — One person is dead after a crash involving a pickup truck and a semi in rural Amenia on Monday afternoon, June 24, according to officials with the Cass County Sheriff's Office.

Emergency crews responded to a crash near the intersection of 158th Avenue SE and County Road 4 just before 4:30 p.m., the Sheriff's Office said in a news release. One person was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

The Sheriff's Office said the other person involved in the crash was uninjured.

The crash happened after one of the vehicles failed to yield at a yield sign, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, which continued to investigate the crash Monday evening.

The name of the person who died in the crash won't be released until immediate family members are notified, the Cass County Sheriff's Office said.

Amenia is a rural Cass County city about 8 miles north of Casselton.
