Vehicles collide at corner of Hwy. 34 and Henrietta

A three-vehicle accident at the intersection of State Hwy. 34 and Henrietta Ave. Tuesday resulted in non-life-threatening injuries, according to a Minnesota State Patrol report.

A 2005 Pontiac Sunfire, driven by Steve L. Demmon of Menahga, 55, was traveling eastbound on Hwy. 34 and making a left-turn when it was struck by a 2015 Ford Escape traveling westbound and driven by 28-year-old Elisabeth K. Carr of Des Moines, Iowa. The Escape hit the passenger side of the Sunfire, where Dannielle L. Lafferty of Menahga, 47, was seated.

A 2014 Toyota Tundra was sitting at the stoplight when it was rear-ended by the Sunfire. The driver, David W. Bretschneider of Bemidji, 57, did not receive any injuries, according to the state patrol.

The crash occurred at 2:04 p.m. June 11. Lafferty was extricated from the vehicle by the Park Rapids Fire Department, then transported to CHI St. Joseph's Health.

Also responding to the scene were the Hubbard County Sheriff's Office, North Memorial Ambulance, Hubbard First Response and the Park Rapids Police.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation was repainting the crosswalk at the time and used cones to redirect traffic.
