Park Rapids man hurt in Becker County crash
A Park Rapids man was injured in a rollover accident Wednesday on Highway 34 in Becker County.
Louis Mortimer Meeks Jr., 69, of Park Rapids suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the Park Rapids hospital, according to the State Patrol.
He was driving a 2006 Ford 500 eastbound in a two-lane area of Highway 34 in the right lane. He was attempting to pass a slower vehicle that was also in the right lane when he noticed a second vehicle in the left lane.
He drove into the ditch to avoid a collision and the Ford rolled over. He was wearing a seatbelt. No airbag deployed. No alcohol was involved.
The crash was reported at 5:40 p.m. on wet pavement one mile west of the Becker-Hubbard county line in Carsonville Township. The Becker County Sheriff's Office assisted at the scene.
