19-year-old dies when thrown from vehicle in far northern Minnesota


WANNASKA, Minn. -- A 19-year-old woman died after rolling her car Friday afternoon, a press release from the Roseau County Sheriff’s Office said.

Leah Marie Vigum, of Twin Valley, Minn., was westbound on County Road 18 in Golden Valley Township, south of Wannaska, when her 1994 Pontiac Bonneville veered off the road and rolled just before 4:30 p.m., according to the release. Vigum was not wearing her seat belt and was thrown from the car, the release said.

She was airlifted to Grand Forks, where she was pronounced dead, according to the release.

The crash is under investigation by the Roseau County Sheriff’s Office and Minnesota State Patrol.
