he Minnesota State Patrol is investigating a serious injury accident on Tuesday on U.S. Highway 2 near the Bemidji Airport.
Law enforcement responded to a crash near mile marker 110 involving two vehicles at 5:04 p.m, according to the state patrol website. Aaron Pearson, 33, of Laporte, was driving a 1999 GMC while pulling a camper that was traveling Westbound on Hwy 2. Pearson had two juvenile passengers.
A second vehicle, a 2001 Ford Ranger being driven by Scott Wright, 37, of Bemidji, was heading southbound on Moberg Dr. As the GMC was slowing, trying to stop for a yellow light on Hwy 2, the light turned red and the GMC entered the intersection, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. The Ford Ranger was struck in the drivers side by the GMC.
Air bags deployed in both vehicles and all occupants were wearing seatbelts. Alcohol was not detected. Road conditions were wet.
Wright sustained a serious injury and was transported to the Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. All others involved in the crash did not sustain any apparent injury, according to the report.
