With amber waves of grain waving in the background an annual flag raising and retirement ceremony took place on a bluff north of Ponsford Saturday.
The 5th annual All Veterans Tribute was held at Howard Maninga's Vietnam Veterans Memorial on Bunker Hill Road in Becker County. Maninga is a Vietnam vet who has built a war memorial on his rural property.
Hundreds of vets and their families from all over the Midwest came to salute the flags, exchange war stories and especially to remember those who fought in various conflicts.
The veterans prayer was a reminder that "the rules of war do not always follow the laws of God."
Many Vietnam vets have donated items for a memorial Maninga hopes to finish by next year's ceremony.
