Boy Scouts from Nevis Troop 56 enjoyed a week in the great outdoors Aug. 8-14 at Many Point Scout Camp, north of Ponsford.
According to Scoutmaster Chris Davis, 15 boys from the Troop participated in a week of camping, cooking out, earning merit badges, swimming, visiting the trading post and competing with boys from other Troops in games and activities at the beach.
“Due to the dry summer, no campfires were allowed,” Davis said, “but the boys made the best of it and had a great time nonetheless.”
Since 2014, except for 2020 due to COVID-19, boys from Troop 56 have camped each summer at the Red Cloud campsite in the Ten Chiefs subcamp at Many Point.
“Countless memories have been made,” said Davis, “and we have had a wonderful time at Red Cloud.”
Next year, he said, the boys will begin a new tradition, camping instead at the Fort Francis site in the Voyager subcamp.
Davis credited the Troop’s parents, adult leaders and supporters with making it possible for the boys to enjoy their Scouting experience.
