The League of Women Voters of Park Rapids Area (LWV) and the Park Rapids Enterprise are partnering to help voters get to know 2020 state, county and local candidates.

A candidate roundup will be live streamed to the Enterprise website and Facebook page from 3 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19. In the case of inclement weather, the event will be rescheduled for Sept. 26.

The goal is to provide a platform for Hubbard County voters to hear from candidates for office.

Candidate forums are usually conducted in person with an audience, but, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the LWV needed to make adjustments to account for the health and safety of the candidates and volunteers.

This year’s roundup will host the candidates, a host and camera operator outdoors, but no in-person audience.

Each candidate will be allotted up to 10 minutes at the microphone to introduce himself or herself and address two or three issues relevant to the race.

The LWV will also have a voter registration table set up at Heartland Park.

The LWV is a non-partisan, political advocacy group, which encourages voter participation and promotes increased understanding of major public policy issues, according to the groups website.
