The Park Rapids Fire Department washed, rinsed and dried 173 vehicles Saturday at their first-ever car wash.
Freewill donations were accepted during the three-hour fundraiser.
Firefighter Crystal Krautkremer reported, “I am still waiting to hear the final tallies, but I know people were being generous and we couldn't be thankful enough for people to come spend their early afternoon to stop by. There was never a time when we were without a vehicle to wash. NAPA also donated some of our car washing supplies, so that was very awesome and extremely appreciated as well.”
The funds will go toward the relief association fund, which is used to purchase new equipment for firefighters or fire prevention materials, she explained.
Krautkremer speculated “with how smooth this event was this year, I wouldn't be surprised if we had one again next year sometime.”
