Nevis responders inch out on thin ice to rescue despondent woman


A despondent Nevis woman was rescued unconscious Sunday night on the ice north of Little Sand Lake.

Three Nevis First Responders braved the ice and conditions in cold-water wetsuits to rescue the woman, who was 50 yards from the shore.

Hubbard County Chief Dep. Scott Parks said the 45-year-old woman was still alive Sunday night, but he had no further word about her condition.

The three-hour search triggered a Global Connect warning from the Sheriff's Office to residents in the area.
