The schedule for the 15th Annual Audrey’s Purple Dream (APD) has been revised.
Some of the event’s traditional activities, such as a plunge into the ice-cold waters of Eleventh Crow WIng Lake, have been cancelled due to unsafe ice conditions.
APD Chair Shannah Geimer said she wants “just to let people know that we would still love for them to come out and support our cause. We’ll have a fun day, regardless.”
Current plans for the event, scheduled for for Saturday, Feb. 8 at the Red River Event Center in Akeley, include a silent auction opening from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., games, merchandise sales and raffle ticket sales starting at noon, button raffle drawings starting at 6 p.m., and live music by Nate’s Fish from 8 p.m. to midnight, with sound by Solarfire Technologies, LLC.
Geimer emphasized that the schedule is still tentative. More games, raffles and fishing prizes may be added.
The event was conceived in support of Akeley Resident Audrey Pidde, who was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2004. Her dream was to take a trip to Alaska, but she passed away before the trip could take place. To date, the APD group has raised more than $140,000 to help more than 100 local people fighting cancer.
