The Bemidji Police Department responded to a report of a stabbing at about 1 a.m. Wednesday on the 1200 block of Second Street Southeast, finding a man there with a 6-7-inch laceration in his chest and another laceration from the left side of his mouth down to the chin.

The victim did not immediately name of the suspect, but later changed his mind upon considering the degree of his injuries, according to the police report in the case.

The victim said he had been slashed with a razor.

A witness at the scene said he heard an argument on the deck outside of the residence and when he opened the door he found the victim bleeding from the chest and face, the police report said.

The case has been sent to the Beltrami County Attorney for possible charges of felony second-degree assault. The suspect had not been charged as of Wednesday morning.

The victim was taken to North Country Regional Hospital; he was treated and released.

Names have not been released in the case.
