Tickets are on sale for the 22nd annual Park Rapids American Legion Fishing Derby.
The ice-fishing contest will take place from 1 to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1 on Fish Hook Lake.
In addition to entering the fishing contest, each ticket provides a chance to win raffle prizes. There are 66 raffle prizes lined up, with grand prize a $30,000 gift certificate to Park Rapids Ford.
The $40 ticket is available at American Legion Post 212 (732-3360), from Legion members and from authorized vendors. Tickets are limited to 4,000. Extra hole tickets will be sold on the ice for $10.
Prizes go to the top 10 fish in four divisions – bluegill-sunfish-crappie; northern-walleye-largemouth bass; perch, and rock bass – including $5,000 for the largest fish in each division and cash prizes ranging from $100 to $500. Cash prizes from $100 to $300 are also offered for the five largest fish in the white fish division.
A 2020 Ice Castle RV fish house will be awarded for catching the 20th largest fish overall.
Awards will be presented at 5 p.m. at the Park Rapids American Legion. Live results will be posted at americanlegionderby.com.
Festivities start with the welcome dance at 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 31 at the legion, with music provided by a DJ.
Sons of the American Legion will serve breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. on Feb. 1, followed by a Post 212 fundraiser lunch from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Wrapping up the event is the Fisherman’s Ball starting at 8 p.m. on Feb. 1, featuring Front Fenders.
