Alice Jeanette Hendrickson, 84, of the Wolf Lake area died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2006 at Perham Memorial Hospital in Perham.
She was born Jan. 29, 1922 to Axel and Lena (Marjamaa) Johnson in Spruce Grove Township, near Wolf Lake. She attended Dist. 75 Country School and worked on the family farm.
She married Leonard Alexander Hendrickson May 31, 1940. They farmed in the Wolf Lake area. In 1968, she began working for Swift and Company in Frazee for more than 22 years. She remodeled her former country school and turned it into her retirement home.
She was a lifelong member of Bethany Lutheran Church and the Esther Circle. She served as president for many years of the Wolf Lake VFW Post 8165 Auxiliary. She helped organize the concessions at the Wolf Lake Ice Fishing Tourna-ment and served as a mem-ber of the Board of Directors of the Menahga Co-op Sampo.
She is survived by seven children, Lenora St. Martin of Northfield, Leonard Jr. "Buddy" (Doris) of Billings, MT, Ronald (Karen) of Hitterdal, Kay (Alan) Wothe and Lynette (Glenn) Yliniemi, both of Frazee, Veronica "Bee" (Edward) VanWatermulen and Warren "Henry" (Donna), both of Perham; sister, Gloria Nordby of Litchfield; 24 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1987, a grandson and grand-daughter, three brothers, Floyd, Wesley and Howard in infancy; and sister, Effie Laurila.
Funeral: Tuesday, Aug. 8 at Bethany Lutheran Church west of Menahga with Rev. Steven A. Bruer officiating.
Honorary casketbearers: Her grandchildren and past and present members of the Wolf Lake Wolf Pack baseball team.
Active casketbears: Her grandsons, Dan O'Hotto, Kyle and Shane Hendrickson, Mark Wothe, Nick Van-Watermulen and Clint Yliniemi.
Interment: Bethany Lutheran Cemetery.
