Bethany Lutheran Church hosting vigil for Nevis and Akeley
In light of the tragedy that has struck our community on this week, Bethany Lutheran Church in Nevis is hosting an ecumenical vigil service at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 17 (today).
"We will gather for prayer and mutual consolation as we mourn the loss of life, and seek healing for ourselves and for the families involved. No matter your denominational affiliation, ALL ARE WELCOME," said the church's Facebook post. The church is located at 100 Third Ave., Nevis.
On Valentine's Day, the Hubbard County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call just before 8 p.m. about a shooting at a daycare in Nevis. The incident started as a domestic dispute, officials said. Authorities have identified the three people who died:
- Heidi Eve Pierce, 40, of Akeley, died of homicide due to a gunshot wound.
Candi Cheryl Goochey, 37, of Akeley, died of homicide due to a gunshot wound.
Bryce Anthony Bellomo, 34, of Nevis, died of suicide due to a gunshot wound.
