Forty-four county fairs sent their talent contest winners to the Minnesota State Fair.

Hubbard County's Adeline Bjorklund, 9, was among them.

Semifinals are held the first nine evenings of the state fair on the Family Fair Stage at Baldwin Park. Nightly first place winners progress to the County Fair Talent Contest finals, which is held on the tenth night of the fair, Saturday, Sept. 2.

Bjorklund won first place in the pre-teen division during the Aug. 25 semifinals, singing "Never Alone."

"When I heard my name announced I was pretty shocked and surprised. I was very happy," she says.

The fourth grader qualified for the Minnesota State Fair talent competition by winning the pre-teen division at the Hubbard County Fair Talent Contest in July.

First and second place winners in the preteen and teen divisions at Saturday's finals will advance in the competition, representing their counties in the Minnesota State Fair Amateur Talent Contest Finals on Sunday, Sept. 3 in the grandstand.

"Competition is pretty tough, but we're hopeful," said David Bjorklund, Adeline's dad.
