A block party on Third Street in Park Rapids Saturday shared food, fun and a message of hope.
Victor Villa was one of the members of the Peacemakers group from California who shared his testimony. After being involved with gangs and drugs, he became a Christian and said it turned his life completely around. “I started following God and blessings started pouring in,” he said. “It’s all God.”
Event organizer Kory James said they served 300 meals and had other people stopping by just for the music.
“There were so many best moments, but seeing the joy on the kids’ faces up there in front of the stage dancing and singing to the Christian music was one of the most special,” she said. “There were so many people who were elated about getting a free haircut. And everyone there was really appreciative and glad they got a free cross, a free necklace and a Bible. The kids loved the bounce house, too.”
James said some people prayed together and turned their lives over to God.
“Thank you to all of the churches that were involved in helping this event take place,” she said.
“Lord willing, there will be another one next year. We hope to get out to the Pine Point community, too.”
