The truck and tractor pull Saturday night at the Hubbard County Fair featured a 14-year-old competing in his first pull as well as vehicles modified from aircraft and war machines.
The Red River Valley Pullers Association event included trucks with multiple engines, a truck named “Ballistic” with a jet engine, “Totally Tanked” with an army tank engine, “Reloaded” with a Huey helicopter engine and more.
Among those competing in the evening’s antique and field tractor pull was Eli Eggert, 14, who notched two first-in-class pulls in his first appearance on the pull circuit.
First place winners in the antique/field event included Joe Samuelson, 4,500 pound 6 mph; Wayne Kimber, 4,500 pound 3 mph and 5,500 pound 3 mph; Daniel Kimber, 5,500 pound 6 mph, 5,500 open and 6,500 pound 6 mph; and Eggert, 6,500 pound 3 mph and 7,500 pound 3 mph. Mike Reichling of Park Rapids placed first in a semi pull.
Categories in the Red River Valley Pullers exhibition included 9,500 pound hot stock tractor, 6,500 pound modified tractor, 6,200 pound pro-stock 4x4 pickup, 7,300 pound light superstock tractor, 6,200 pound limited modified tractor, 8,000 pound 3.0 diesel 4x4, 8,500 pound improved diesel 4x4, 6,200 pound open modified 4x4, 6,200 two-wheel-drive truck, street gas truck, 7,500 pound open tractor and 8,500 open tractor.
