Jayme Rion Honrud, a 15-year-old passenger of a 1993 Chevrolet pickup was pronounced dead at the scene in a single vehicle roll-over in the early hours of July 31.
The incident occurred at approximately 2:44 a.m., and the Becker County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to the scene on 280th street, known also as Vergas Trails Road, south of Detroit Lakes.
Austen Kurt Lynnes, 18, was behind the wheel, with four passengers ranging in ages from 15 to 18.
Two of the individuals were transported by ambulance to the hospital and released, and two were transported to the hospital by private vehicle for treatment of minor scrapes and bruises.
The Becker County Sheriff’s Office reports that it does not appear that alcohol was a factor, and the vehicle was traveling at speeds no faster than 40 miles per hour. Honrud was the only passenger without a seatbelt on at the time of the accident.

“It’s just an unfortunate accident,” said Becker County Sheriff Kelly Shannon of the incident.
