‘Met on Main Street’ is a new column featuring people met at random exclusively on Main Street in Park Rapids

Life is about opportunity sometimes.
In order to create a weekly column, you need to have something (or someone) to write about every week. In this case, every week I need to meet new people on Main Street in Park Rapids.
While the last column went easily due to the nice weather, this week proved to be a more challenging task. After the weather gave a brief glimpse of summer, it also made it painfully clear that I wasn’t calling any shots, and that it wasn’t summer yet either.

Few people were on foot around Main Street when I met Bob and Linda Culbrtson on Monday, April 21 at 1 p.m.
As husband and wife, they live in Longville now after relocating about a year ago from the Twin Cities area upon their retirement.
They had gone to Bemidji on a shopping trip this day and now were searching for an unnamed coffee shop they thought used to be around the area. Heading south, I met them outside Fuller’s Pawn near the intersection.
They come to Park Rapids from time to time when they pass through, mostly when it’s warm.
Every so often when they take a trip together to stop for shopping, and when they do, they stop at Monika’s, different antique shops, restaurants and other stores in the area. Linda is going to a quilting retreat soon and needed some fabric, prompting the specific stop on this trip.
They both find entertainment in the overall beauty of the area, with Bob even referring to the up north region as a vacation destination.
Now retired, they can live their “vacation” together.
Until next time, have a great week. Maybe soon it’s you I will meet.
