Menahga Mayor Liz Olson returned her 2021 salary and benefits back to the city. She presented a check, totaling $3,649, to Interim City Administrator Betty Thomsen on Dec. 31. In a statement, she said one of her mayoral election pledges was to help bring about clarity regarding city finances for all city taxpayers. “Given the present financial standing of the city and my commitment to make sure that the finances were in proper financial order, I, as mayor, will not accept any monies received from the city for the 2021 fiscal year,” Olson concluded.
