The Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) Camp was recently held on the beautiful University of Minnesota, Crookston campus.
Each camper is sponsored by their local Rotary club and this year there were 144 RYLA campers that were sponsored by 56 Rotary International Clubs from District 5580 including Bradley Graham and Jasmine Cease who were sponsored by the Park Rapids Rotary Club.
Most of the students that participated in this year’s RYLA camp will be high school seniors in 2016-2017.
Camp RYLA’s mission is to provide outstanding high school students with a variety of educational and recreational activities. These activities provide numerous opportunities for leadership and team building, and they are designed to expand, improve and refine the participants’ leadership skills.
Campers are hosted by Rotary International District 5580, the Crookston Rotary Club, and the University of Minnesota Crookston for one week each summer. The students stay in the residence halls on campus during the week-long program.
Rotary District 5580 is looking for candidates from around the district to participate in Camp RYLA.
Ideally local clubs will collaborate with past RYLArians, teachers, coaches and counselors to identify and select proven and potential leaders in area communities.
Additional information about camp RYLA is available by visiting the RYLA website at www.district5580ryla.org
