A land of stories and rich history, Walker is a sparkling little city in northern Minnesota. Seated on the shores of Leech Lake, it’s busy throughout the year with celebrations, musical events and unique shopping opportunities.
The Northern Lights Casino , operated by the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe , is nearby. And tourists can learn more about the Walker area’s history by visiting the Cass County Museum .
A variety of recreational activities are available in the area, including fishing, hunting, hiking, biking and snowmobiling on hundreds of miles of woodland trails and scenic byways.
The Chippewa National Forest that surrounds Walker was the first national forest established east of the Mississippi River, in 1908. It is home to more lakes and wetlands than any other national forest, plus 3,000 archeological and historic sites.

NOTEWORTHY THINGS TO SEE AND DO
Two big music festivals: Moondance Jam and Moondance Jammin'

Visitors flock to the 15th annual Moondance Jammin’ Country Fest to hear some of the world’s greatest country artists. Set for June 17-19, the 2021 festival will feature Midland, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band (pictured), Jo Dee Messina and many more.
Then, on July 22-24, Moondance Jam will attract thousands to the 300-acre Moondance Events campground and concert area east of Walker. Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, Minnesota’s largest rock ‘n’ roll concert will have something for every rock fan, including shows by Alice Cooper, Todd Rundgren, Firehouse, Grand Funk Railroad and Night Ranger.
Locals Love These: Ethic Fest and the Leech Lake Regatta

Ethnic Fest: This kid-friendly festival on Sept. 11 features ethnic music, crafts and cuisine from around the world. Walker’s streets come alive with color.
Leech Lake Regatta: Celebrating 50 years in 2021, this annual event is slated for Aug. 7-9. Enjoy sailing, campfires, music and camaraderie. There are three race segments.
