A land of stories and rich history, Walker is a sparkling little city in northern Minnesota. Seated on the shores of Leech Lake, it’s busy throughout the year with celebrations, musical events and unique shopping opportunities.

The Northern Lights Casino , operated by the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe , is nearby. And tourists can learn more about the Walker area’s history by visiting the Cass County Museum .

A variety of recreational activities are available in the area, including fishing, hunting, hiking, biking and snowmobiling on hundreds of miles of woodland trails and scenic byways.

The Chippewa National Forest that surrounds Walker was the first national forest established east of the Mississippi River, in 1908. It is home to more lakes and wetlands than any other national forest, plus 3,000 archeological and historic sites.
