The third annual Youth Music and Art Showcase will be Aug. 18-20.
Art will be displayed in downtown Park Rapids businesses and will be judged by professional artists. Several artists have submitted art for the showcase.
Alissa Berthiaume, 17, of Park Rapids, will be a senior at Park Rapids Area High School this fall. She enjoys photography and drawing. She will have several art pieces on display.
Elizabeth Lempola, 18, of Park Rapids, has entered three pieces of art. Her works include a painting, photo and collage.
She is a Park Rapids Area High School graduate and will attend Minnesota State University Moorhead this fall. She plans to major in art education. Her favorite art type is oil painting. She hopes to continue creating her own pieces and better her skills. One day, she hopes to teach art and inspire young minds to release their creativeness and be unique.

Abigail Davies, 13, of Lake Itasca, will show a reverse glass painting and some photography. Reverse glass painting is an old technique that uses pen and ink on one side of the glass. It is painted in layers and is quite intricate.
Makenna Coan, 9, will be a fifth grader at Century School in Park Rapids this fall. She has always been interested in art and particularly likes drawing, photography and painting.
Musicians of all kinds will perform at a variety of Park Rapids downtown businesses as well. Read about some of the musicians in Saturday's Enterprise.
Saturday evening, Aug. 20, is the main concert, which will be at the outdoor pavilion at the Jokela Rodeo & Auction Grounds on Highway 34 east. Call 255-1120 to sign up as a musician. The Park Rapids Lakes Area Arts Council is organizing the event.
The main concert will feature reggae band "Make the Most," with Josh Prendiz, lead vocalist, on guitar; Brandon Prendiz on drums; and Roger Fenzel, back up vocalist, on bass. Other performers will be local singer/guitarist Alex Ziemann and singer/ songwriter/guitarist Cole Randall.
Tickets for the concert sold in advance at Beagle Books and The Good Life Cafe and at the door are $5 for adults, $20 for families and children under 5 free.
Day care providers and parents of preschoolers are invited to bring their children downtown to do chalk art on sidewalks Friday morning. Free chalk will be available at Wildwood Enchantment, 209 South Main Ave.
