The Park Rapids High School drama department’s winter play is “The Snow Queen” by Ron Nicol, based on the story by Hans Christian Andersen. Shows are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Dec. 9-10 in the auditorium. Adapted from the beloved winter tale, "The Snow Queen" is the story of Gerda, a little girl who searches for her friend Kai when he is bewitched and imprisoned by the evil Snow Queen. It’s a magical journey that the whole family will love, says Drama Director Juliann Kjenaas. Technical directors are Tori Harju and Jamie Jokela. Tickets are available at the door, which opens at 6:30 p.m. Park Rapids students may attend for free. Adults are $6, other students and senior citizens are $4. Seniors over 80 years old are also free of charge. The play is produced by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc.

The Headwaters Center for Lifelong Learning presents a different program each Tuesday from Feb. 28 to April 18.
The royal couple was crowned during a school assembly on Jan. 30, followed by more spirit week festivities.
Deadline for submissions is March 29.
The winners will go on to perform at Section 6A competition Feb. 4 in Hawley.
