"Saturday was an terrific day of theater," reports Park Rapids one-act play director Juliann Kjenaas of the 6A Section competition held in high school auditorium. "I am so proud of the students from Park Rapids who delivered an outstanding performance of the beautiful and complex play, scenes from 'The Secret in the Wings,' which was written by Tony award-winning playwright Mary Zimmerman. All their hard work at rehearsals paid off." Park Rapids took second place out of the final eight schools making it to the 6A Section contest; Wadena claimed first with their orginal production of "The Humorist of Forest Leaves." Hawley claimed third. The eight plays performed Saturday are the first and second place champions of four sub-section contests within the 6A section, a total of 25 schools participating in one-acts from their theater programs across our section. State one- act competitions will be held Thursday and Friday, Feb. 7 and 8 at the O'Shaughnessy Auditorium at St. Catherine's University in St. Paul.
