The 34th annual International Eelpout Festival is under way in Walker, with thousands of raucous guests in attendance.

Walker Bay on Leech Lake spawned a community of trailers, fish houses, tents, shacks and igloos for the weekend.

Nearly perfect conditions greeted the estimated 10,000.

Thick ice and a sunny but crisp day allowed tons of vehicles and trailers out on the frozen lake.

The annual "Polar Pout Plunge," a massive fundraiser for the town's community center, got off to a spirited start with an Elvis impersonator singing to the crowd, then artfully jumping into the freezing water.

The festival began Thursday during the cocktail hour and continues through Sunday.
