Area casino entertainment calendars are heating up.
The Shooting Star Casino in Mahnomen, Minn., has lined up former "Tonight Show" host and stand-up comic Jay Leno and former "American Idol" David Cook.
Dakota Magic Casino in Hankinson, N.D., has booked country star Gretchen Wilson, country comedian Rodney Carrington and pop rockers Smash Mouth and Sugar Ray.
Leno, who left the "Tonight Show" in May, has been working on a prime time variety show to air weeknights at 9. The show premieres Sept. 14 on NBC. He plays the casino July 24.
Cook, the 2008 "American Idol" winner was scheduled to play The Venue at The Hub in Fargo on July 14, but the show was canceled due to "scheduling conflicts." He plays Mahnomen July 22.

Radio favorites in the late 1990s, Smash Mouth and Sugar Ray play Dakota Magic July 24. Smash Mouth scored hits with "Walkin' on the Sun" and "All Star." Sugar Ray landed on the charts with "Fly," "Every Morning" and "Some Day."
Wilson, whose hits include "Redneck Woman," "Here for the Party" and "All Jacked up," plays Oct. 16.
Carrington, star of the ABC sitcom "Rodney" and co-star of "Beer for My Horses" performs Nov. 19.
