Rich Mattson and the Northstars will play at 2nd Street Stage on Thursday, July 22.
The free concert will run from 6 to 8 p.m. on the second block of Main Avenue South in downtown Park Rapids.
The band formed in 2014 in northern Minnesota as a cosmic folk group and performs all around Minnesota and beyond, sharing the stage with such acts as the Minus 5, the Jayhawks and Trampled By Turtles.
A Minnesota music staple, Mattson is well known for his songwriting, showmanship, and his work with thousands of artists at his Sparta Sound recording studio. He and bandmate Germaine Gemberling have been songwriting, recording and performing together since 2010, coming closer with each album to the source of rock and roll. Their recent fifth album, “Skylights,” also features drummer Keely Lane – also a long-time Mattson bandmate – and bassist Kyle Westrick.
Guests are advised to arrive early for the 5 p.m. social hour.
