City of Red Wing PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE This public hearing was originally scheduled for Tuesday, December 21, 2021, but was cancelled due to the lack of a quorum of Advisory Planning Commission members. Notice is hereby given that the City of Red Wing Advisory Planning Commission will hold a public hearing in the City Council Chambers at City Hall on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at 7:00 p.m., to hear and make a recommendation on a Variance request by Deanna Peterson, 1127 Sturtevant Street, to allow an addition to the existing home that would expand existing non-conforming setbacks along the eastern and western property lines. The proposal involves the addition of a second level to the northeast portion of the existing home and the construction of a two-story addition and porch on the rear of the home. The property is zoned Two-Family Residential (R-2). The R-2 zoning district requires an 8’ minimum side yard setback for the home along the eastern property line and a 20’ minimum corner side yard setback along the western property line. The existing home has a 6.3” setback along the eastern property line and a 12.2’ to 15’ setback along the western property line. The proposal requests the allowance to expand upon the 6.3’ eastern setback and the 15’ western setback both horizontally and vertically. Plat and Parcel Number: 55-300-0140. Legal description: Lot 10, Block 2, INSTITUTE ADDITION, City of Red Wing, Goodhue County, Minnesota. More commonly known as 1127 Sturtevant Street. Written or oral comments to said Variance request may be presented at this public hearing or filed with the City Clerk prior to this hearing. Each response will be duly considered and evaluated before any formal action is taken by the Planning Commission. This meeting will also include a virtual connection. You may request a link or call-in number to join the virtual meeting via Webex or may share a public comment prior to the meeting by emailing your comments by 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, to or by calling 651-385-3622 to leave your contact information and a voicemail with your comments. The applicant and the public will have the opportunity to present comments on the Advisory Planning Commission’s recommendations at a City Council meeting. The purpose of allowing comments is to provide the applicant and the public with the opportunity to directly address the Council on the matter. The comment period cannot be used for the presentation of new information as all relevant information needs to be provided to the Advisory Planning Commission at the public hearing. If new information is presented to the City Council that was not considered at the public hearing of the Advisory Planning Commission, the Council may vote to send the matter back to the Advisory Planning Commission. All comments will be kept to the customary 3-minute limit. The City Council meeting is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on January 24, 2022. Teri L. Swanson, City Clerk City of Red Wing, Minnesota Date: January 3, 2022 (Jan. 8, 2022)
