The Nevis city office is closed to the public until further notice following an emergency declaration Wednesday.

All meetings are also cancelled until further notice.

“Our purpose in being closed is to keep people from coming in and out and gathering,” Mayor Jarod Senger said.

Payments to the city may be made in the dropbox outside, online or by mail. More information is available on the city website.

There will be no late fees assessed on late water or sewer bills in March and April, and no disconnections before April 15.

“We also want to reach out to residents without a support structure who may need assistance, like picking up groceries or supplies,” Senger said. “We will provide a safety net for those residents.”

Call Dawn Veit at the city office (652-3866) for regular business assistance or to identify residents with needs.

“The safety and welfare of our residents is of the utmost concern,” Senger said. “We’re making that our priority.”
