The Heartland Concert Association kicks off the 2019-20 season with “Take Me Home” by Jim Curry, a John Denver tribute.
The 7 p.m. performance will be held in the Park Rapids Area High School auditorium. Admission is by season membership or tickets can be purchased at the door.
Curry began his musical career writing and performing “The Time of Your Life” for his senior play. He was awarded a Rotary scholarship to study music in college.
Embracing the similarities of his voice with that of singer/songwriter John Denver, Curry specialized in Denver’s songs. He also shares Denver’s messages of love, humanity and environmental awareness.
After the untimely death of Denver in 1997, Curry landed an off-camera role singing as Denver in the CBS Television’s made-for-TV movie “Take Me Home: The John Denver Story.” That experience inspired Curry to produce full-length Denver tribute concerts.
Program highlights will include “Rocky Mountain High,” “Annie’s Song,” “Eagles and Horses,” “Thank God I’m A Country Boy,” among other hits.
