A special Noon Hour Concert to celebrate the Park Rapids High School’s new Yamaha piano will take place at 12:15 p.m. on Thursday, July 21.
The concert will be at the high school auditorium.
Works by Rachmaninoff, Debussy, Shostakovich, Chopin, Compton, Keveren and Mercer, Prevert and Kosma will be performed by area musicians Roz Pederson , Cheryl Steinborn, Martha Thompson, Carolyn Spangler, Margaret Annexstad, LouAnn Dierkhising, Sarah Kaufenburg and Luke Helm.
The new Yamaha grand piano was purchased after two years of fundraising by Partners for Pianos, a committee co-chaired by Roz and Garnett Pederson. The committee received donations from individuals and various community organizations in order to replace the previous piano, which was worn out beyond repair.
"The biggest thing I take away from the whole campaign for the piano was the generosity and the appreciation of music in our area," Roz said.
Bars and beverages will be served after the concert.
