Dynamic jazz vocalist in Park Rapids Feb. 12 for Heartland Concert series

Jaimee Paul and the Leif Shires Quartet will enterain Feb. 12 with the musical style of Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Rosemary Clooney, Doris Day, Judy Garland and the songs that endeared them to America.

In an exciting tribute to the glory days of the Jazz Age, vocalist Jaimee Paul will perform Thursday, Feb. 12 as part of the Heartland Concert Association series.

Paul’s sophisticated voice is backed by a jazz quartet led by her husband, Leif Shires.

The 7:30 p.m. concert will be held in the Park Rapids Area High School auditorium.

Raised in southern Illinois, steeped in the church choir, Paul was influenced by gospel and blues, cultivating a special place in her heart for jazz.

She left her hometown for Nashville, Tenn. to study music business at highly acclaimed Belmont University.

After graduation, she quickly found work at various record labels, handling marketing and radio promotion; simultaneously, she began working part-time as a studio session singer.

Not long after, she became a full-time musician, performing her own shows and expanding her solo career.

Paul also served as background vocalist with country superstar Wynonna.

In 2008, Green Hill Music signed Paul as their first female vocalist, and their debut record, “At Last,” reached No. 1 on the iTunes jazz charts.

Since then Paul has recorded five more albums. Her latest, “Bonded,” will be released March 12.

“Bonded” is a tribute to the legendary themes of the world-renowned James Bond movie phenomenon.

Both Paul and her husband are in great demand, performing for audiences throughout the U.S., Canada,  Europe and Japan.

Admission to Heartland Concert Association concerts is by season membership ticket only, which may be purchased at Beagle Books in Park Rapids, Thrifty White Drug in Walker.
