The summer reading program is back at Park Rapids Area Library!
Area residents ages 2-18 are invited to participate.
Participants will track their reading minutes and earn incentives for minutes read. Registration opened Tuesday, June 1. The program will run Monday, June 7 through Saturday, Aug. 7.
There is a paper option and an online option. More information is available at the library.
Area health organizations, businesses and the Friends of the Library have once again stepped up by donating prizes or cash to help fund the program.
This year’s theme, “Reading Colors Your World,” is a reminder of the important role reading can play in our lives.
Books can entertain, inform and educate. They can help us see the world through someone else’s eyes. Studies show that children develop empathy and problem-solving skills through listening to stories.
Activities for all ages and a variety of interests are planned throughout the summer. Many will be virtual. Others will be held outdoors and in compliance with the COVID-19 safety guidelines. A calendar is available at the library.
Keep your eyes open for take-and-make projects and grab-and-go activities throughout the summer. Information will be posted on the Park Rapids Area Library’s Facebook page and in the Park Rapids Area Library Summer Reading Facebook group, which you can join by request.
We’re looking forward to a colorful summer at the library. We hope you’ll join us!
Jodi Schultz is the Park Rapids Area Library branch manager.
