Park Rapids seventh grader Kaylie Westberg earned a spot in the Minnesota Band Directors Association's statewide honor band on alto saxophone. Westberg was selected for this honor from among saxophone players in sixth through eighth grade from across Minnesota.
"It is a challenging audition and a competitive program to get into, and it is quite an accomplishment for Kaylie to make it into the band, especially as a seventh grader," said Park Rapids band director John Cook. "I'm very proud of Kaylie for making it into the statewide honor band. This is the closest thing we have in Minnesota to All-State Band for middle school students, and it is a great honor for her to be selected. She is an extremely hardworking and dedicated student, and she is very deserving of this honor."
The Honor Band will be held at Shakopee High School on the weekend of April 6-7.
