Northern Light Opera Company’s (NLOC) production of “The Drowsy Chaperone” runs from July 26 to Aug. 3 at the Park Rapids Armory.

Evening performances are at 7:30 p.m., with 3 p.m. matinees on July 28 and Aug. 3.

“The Drowsy Chaperone” is a “musical within a comedy,” where a musical from the 1920s comes to life in a lonely man’s apartment. Zany characters abound – a starlet and her harried producer, a tipsy diva, a dizzy heiress and her long-suffering butler, a Latin lover, gangsters and even an aviatrix.

Although under two hours in length, the musical is chock full of sensational dance numbers, including a tap duet.

NLOC continues its 18-year tradition of highly entertaining, professional-quality community theater with ”The Drowsy Chaperone.” Performers come from all over the Heartland Lakes area as well as Bemidji and Fargo.

Local favorites Julie Kjenaas, Abby Sellnow, Hawken Paul, Brinn Krabbenhoft, David Overly, Mike Carroll, and Jake and Katie Jager will be heading the cast, with Phil Bender returning from Washington D.C. to play Aldolpho, the Latin lothario.

Tickets may be purchased at Beagle and Wolf Books, Park Rapids and online at Brown Paper Tickets (www.brownpapertickets.com/event/4243583). For more information, check the website: www.northernlightopera.org.
