COVID food assistance truck coming Monday

Anyone in need of food is welcome.

An 18-wheeler full of special food aid is coming to Park Rapids at 9:30 a.m. Monday morning.

According to Denny Ulmer, assistant director of the Hubbard County Food Shelf, the food truck from the COVID Food Assistance Program will be at Calvary Lutheran Church, ready to unload boxes of produce, dairy products and meat/protein products to anyone in need.

It’s “first come, first served,” said Ulmer. “You do not need any identification. You don’t need to be a client of the food shelf. Anybody in the community who is in need of food can come.”

Lorie Skarpness has lived in the Park Rapids area since 1997 and has been writing for the Park Rapids Enterprise since 2017. She enjoys writing features about the people and wildlife who call the north woods home.
